What is a Shortcode or QR code and how do I use it?

Shortcodes (a number) and QR codes (a square made of black and white dots and lines, similar to a barcode) give direct access to your customers to your portfolio and published artworks.

There is a shortcode for each of your artworks, and one for your entire portfolio (access is limited to the artworks you have published for ArtBeamer; unpublished ones will not be visible). To use a shortcode your customers start the App and insert the shortcode in the field, gaining access to the artwork or portfolio.

QR codes represent a handy alternative to shortcodes, requires no typing from your client but provide the same access to your artwork or portfolio. To use a QR code your customers start the App, press “scan QR code” and scan the code with the app, gaining access to the artwork or portfolio.

You will find your shortcodes and QR codes in the CMS:
1) Open the “Show in ArtBeamer” tab
2) Shortcodes are displayed in the tab itself, when mouse-hovering an artwork or when publishing an artwork for ArtBeamer
3) QR codes are available by clicking “→ Send invitation to customer for this artwork (open sharing/instructions page)”

The best way to make shortcodes and QR codes available to your client is to send them the “ → Send invitation to customer for this artwork (open sharing/instructions page)” page. The page present the artworks and their shortcodes, and also instructs your customers on how to use ArtBeamer. You will find a button for sharing or for emailing the page directly in the page itself.
